Questions, answered
Why are mamra almonds more expensive than regular almonds?+
Mamra is a low-yield landrace grown from seed on terraced orchards — about a twentieth of world almond supply. The kernels carry nearly double the oil of commodity varieties, which is what you taste and what you pay for.
How do I spot fake mamra?+
Real mamra is small, curved and irregular with a dense bite that snaps. Uniform, flat, glossy kernels sold as 'mamra' are usually polished commodity almonds. Ours ship with the grower's name on the pack.
Are these good for baking?+
Honestly, use regular almonds for baking — the mamra difference disappears in a cake. Eat these raw, soaked overnight, or as part of a winter morning routine.
